mykullmelton this kicks ass, makes me want to smoke opium while drinking cough medicine and have a wrestling match with a giant cardboard roll on the carpet in the middle of a circle pit at a house show. I did that once. I am forever reliving that moment, religiously. it was my best punk mosh day. and you bring me right back to when I was hallucinating peacocks and I jumped in with that huge cardboard roll

recorded by IA

This one is special because the art was drawn by a close friend and local legend in the punk community. This was the last piece of art he got to do before passing, but he had drawn countless flyers, and designs for bands over the years. He was a true freak- always managed to get into trouble but was also always able to charm his way out of it. We loved him because he proved that not fitting in could be not so bad. And he showed us plenty of ways to have fun, living in a society that constantly ignores us.

Austin is so important to IA, because he is the perfect representation of what IA really is. To so many people, this music, the message, and the images are all invisible. They don't know about it. Not because it isn't there, but because they don't care to know. They feel much more comfortable living in their fantasy world than even considering for a second what terrible things are going on in real life.

What is this frustration we all have felt from a young age? When night falls and everyone is asleep, what are you to do with this energy that keeps you awake? And lastly, is there anywhere that you can go to express yourself freely? To not play a role of someone else's construction?

Austin knew the answers to all those questions, and helped so many people find them as well, but still it seems he wasn't fit for this world. Although he's no longer here to help others find their way, IA is committed to carrying on that task.Through the music you hear, through the communities we cultivate, and through the trail we leave behind.

He also played guitar in ZIG-ZAG, and we happened to record some new songs for an upcoming 7" with him which will be out soon.

Thank you for listening.
